What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical intervention applied to shape and eliminate disproportionate distribution of fat in the body. Liposuction, which is an effective remedy especially for regional adiposity, is also used as an auxiliary element in many aesthetic surgery procedures. For example, liposuction is used in gynecomastia surgeries for breast enlargement in male patients. In Bow Legged (Genu Varum), fat is suctioned from another part of the patient to camouflage an existing disorder  and loaded to the problematic area. In short, liposuction is a frequently used application to improve the results of the existing plastic surgery operation and make it effective.

When liposuction surgeries are used alone without being combined with another procedure, it is mostly applied for stubborn fat that does not respond to diet and exercise. In order to create a natural contour, this fatty and protruding area can be shaped like a sculpture by liposuction.

Today, it is possible to come across different types of liposuction used in aesthetic surgery. The aim of all of them is to remove the fat in the area and provide natural contouring to the patient or to support another aesthetic surgery intervention. They differ in terms of their benefits and effectiveness.

In the Tumescent Technique for Liposuction Surgery, an anesthetic solution is given to the problematic area and the area is inflated in order to minimize bleeding and discomfort that may be experienced afterwards.

In the Ultrasound Liposuction technique, ultrasound energy is utilized to loosen the fat from the tissue and quickly remove larger amounts of fat easily.

In the Laser Liposuction technique, applications are performed with the help of laser technologies known by the brand names Smartlipo or Slimlipo. There are also liposcupture techniques.
