Nose Aesthetics (Rhinoplasty) Surgery

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common surgical interventions in the world. Since the nose is located in the centre of the face and makes an effective contribution to facial beauty, the internal or external nasal deformities , which is aesthetically problematic and also causes health problems, are corrected.

What is Nose Aesthetics (Rhinoplasty)? Who are eligible for this procedure?

Nose Aesthetics, also known as rhinoplasty, is the name given to surgical operations performed to correct the shape of the nose.

The reasons for undergoing rhinoplasty include repairing defects following an injury, or changing the physical appearance of the nose to correct a birth defect, or improving some breathing difficulties and making breathing easier.

In some cases, both breathing difficulties and physical appearance may be among the reasons behind the choice of rhinoplasty.

What is nose aesthetics?

Nose aesthetics, also known as rhinoplasty, is a plastic surgery performed to reshape the nose. With these operations, the following can be done: Nose augmentation or reduction; changing the angle of the nose with the upper lip; changing the position of the tip of the nose, eliminating the problems caused by any blow to the nose, correcting congenital esthetic defects.

During rhinoplasty, the surgeon makes incisions into the nose or the upper skin of the nose using different techniques to access the cartilage and bones that support the nose. Incisions are usually made into the nose as much as possible so that they become invisible after surgery. Depending on the desired result, some bone and cartilage may be removed or filler may be added (from another part of the body or using a synthetic filler). The surgeon terminates the procedure after reshaping the bone and cartilage, that is, making them suitable for the structure of the nose.

If necessary, a splint can be placed on the outside of the nose to support the newly created nasal structure to help during the healing period. The term rhinoplasty is already derived from the word “rhinoplastic”, which means “changing the shape of the nose”. The technique primarily involves accessing the bone and nasal cartilage(structure and support to the nose )This can only be achieved through incisions inside the nose, where we cannot see it. In some cases, an incision is made in the skin area separating the nostrils. The underlying bone and cartilage are then reduced, increased or rearranged to create a newly shaped structure. For example, if the tip of the nose is too large, the surgeon can reduce its size by shaping the cartilage in this area.

If the nasal bridge  is high and prominent, this can be reduced to give a pleasant natural appearance. If any part of the nose appears disproportionately small, cartilage or soft tissue grafts can be placed to  complete your facial harmony. The angles of the nose in relation to the upper lip or forehead can also be altered by further reshaping the nasal tip supporting structures.

A small plastic nasal splint can be applied to the outside of the nose to minimize swelling and help maintain the new shape while the nose heals.. Inside the nose, a tampon which is made of absorbent materials, can be used to maintain its softness along the thin wall (nasal septum) . Alternatively, soft nasal supports that allow nasal breathing after the operation can also be placed. But these are all situations that vary from patient to patient. Even a minor correction to the nose can make a difference in overall facial harmony.

Most patients feel very little pain after surgery. Any discomfort can be easily controlled with mild painkillers.
